Playing with a full deck – finally!
This Joker of a card is actually the 52nd being published. I can barely believe we have come this far! What started as a rather silly idea of making notes on playing cards is now nearly 20,000 words of notes and thoughts on various leadership topics, collected from books, conferences, conversations with authors and fellow Metronomics coaches as well as directly from my coaching experience. Thank you Erin and Larissa of Next Page Publishing Inc. for your loving care for my words, and Janet and Sadie of Kosei Design for the design, website and wonderful illustrations – it would’ve never happened without you!
Now, to top it all off with a podcast! Cardcast now has 11 episodes released, and more recorded and coming soon – and it has quite a bit of tips and opportunities for micro-learning. My thanks go to my co-host Ged and our producer Luke for taking this from an idea into reality!
There were many highlights and rewards for this group’s effort to convince me the journey is worth continuing. Here are my favorites:
- A CEO showed up for our first meeting with several cards printed out from the website, as he wanted to discuss in more detail
- A company on the other side of the world told me they read and discuss one card at every weekly meeting (and they weren’t the only one!)
- A coach asked me for the cards in printed form to give to their clients
- Another CEO said the cards were what made him reach out
- And, the open rate of emailed cards by my subscribers is off the charts!
I’m therefore not stopping with the full deck. I will put some effort into improving the content already there. I want to give the cards another look, refresh them with my reader’s feedback, add new learnings, references to books I’ve read since etc.
We are also working on improving the website, and Ged and I are recording more CardCast episodes.
That means fewer new cards coming for some time. For my subscribers who have been receiving cards as they were written, we’ll go back to the original “shuffle” concept. This means we will be sending a random card every time there is no “new” card available.
That’s it for today. Stay tuned though, our team is cooking up more surprises!
